The club has achieved success in the past, winning the second tier of Scottish football once and earning promotion to the top-flight on two occasions. Notably, East Stirlingshire's highest league position was achieved during their brief stints in the top flight in 1932–33 and 1963–64. However, in 2016, East Stirlingshire made history by becoming the first club to be relegated from the national league system.
East Stirlingshire has a long history in the Scottish Cup, with their best performance being reaching the quarter-finals three times, most recently in 1981. The club's most successful run in a national cup competition was in the 2000–01 season, where they made it to the semi-finals of the Scottish Challenge Cup before being defeated by Livingston. In 2008, the club made the decision to relocate from Firs Park to Ochilview Park to share facilities with local rivals Stenhousemuir. More recently, since the 2018–19 season, East Stirlingshire has been sharing the Falkirk Stadium with their neighboring club Falkirk.
