Croatian Cup

Managed by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS), the tournament typically takes place from late August to late May. The winners of the cup gain automatic entry into the UEFA Europa Conference League for the following season, except when the winners are also the champions of the Prva HNL, in which case the Europa Conference League spot goes to the next best team in the Prva HNL standings that haven't already qualified for UEFA competitions through their league performance. The cup was established in 1992 after Croatian clubs withdrew from the Yugoslav First League and Yugoslav Cup competitions following the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Over the course of 31 cup seasons up to the 2021-22 season, the competition has been largely dominated by the Eternal Derby rivals - Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split. Dinamo Zagreb, previously known as HAŠK Građanski and Croatia Zagreb in the 1990s, have appeared in 23 finals and secured 16 titles, while Hajduk Split have won 8 titles out of 13 final appearances. With the exception of three instances in 1999, 2006, and 2020, either Dinamo or Hajduk has featured in almost every cup final. Apart from these two clubs, only Rijeka (six wins), Inter Zaprešić (one win), and Osijek (one win) have managed to clinch the cup. Although team qualification for the cup generally stems from regional county cups, which are typically contested by lower-division sides, Uljanik Pula in 2003 stands as the sole team in the competition's history to reach the cup final from a lower level.
